Fees

FEES WILL SLIGHTLY INCREASE ON 1st JUNE 2024

Following the announcement of the 2024-2025 Federal Budget and the Government’s lack of investment in General Practice, our fees will increase on 1st June 2024. This is due to the ongoing discrepancy between the cost of operating a general practice clinic and low increases to the Federal Government’s Medicare rebates. This decision has not been made lightly and is necessary to continue to provide high-quality health care to our local community. The doctors at Family Health Care Walkerston privately bill patients and a range of fees apply,

The following doctors at our Walkerston clinic will bulk bill all pension concession card holders and children aged 12 and under. They will also bulk bill all health care card concession holders. You must have a valid health care concession card which will be checked at each appointment.

Concessions are only available for consultations - there may be fees for any surgical or treatment room use which will be advised at the time of your consult.

Fees are always payable at the time of consultation and we accept cash, cheque, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard and Amex) and Eftpos. Our Practice is happy to lodge your receipt to Medicare via “HIC on line” in which Medicare will deposit your rebate back into your designated account within 72 hours. You will require a card with a savings or cheque account attached or have your bank account details registered with Medicare – and we will do the rest. You will not need to go to Medicare for your refund.

The most commonly charged fees are on display in our waiting room. If you have any concerns with paying our fees, please discuss with your Doctor or the Practice Manager.

You may request your medical records be transferred to an alternate GP. A fee may apply. Please contact us directly for details.

After Hours

If you have a medical emergency after hours, please call 000 or attend your local emergency department.

If you want to see an after hours GP, you can see a GP in your own home. We recommend calling: Dial a Local Doctor – this is 100% Bulk Billing for DVA or Medicare card holders.
